What is RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts to help young adults develop their leadership skill while at the same time having fun and making connections.

What are the benefits?

The benefits are the ability to connect with leaders in your community and around the world to:
  • Build communication and problem-solving skills
  • Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
  • Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors.
  • Unlock the potential to turn motivation into action
  • Have fun and form lasting friendships

When does it take place?

RLYA is organized annually for young adults ages 19-24. In the District that Yakima Rotary is a part of, it takes the form of a three-day retreat held in the spring in Penticton, British Columbia. The event includes presentations, activities, and workshops covering a variety of topics.

How can I participate?

RYLA participants are nominated by local Rotary clubs. Yakima Rotary has scholarship funds available to cover the cost of the program, food, lodging and a travel stipend.  Applicants must have a valid passport or enhanced driver’s license. The next RYLA event will take place in Spring 2021.
